This Dark Knight Authentic Batman Costume is the ultimate collectors item or costume for movie fanatics! A black, polyester shirt with long sleeves slips on over the head. Over the shirt, the latex molded chest piece velcros in the back for closure. This armor is black and has short sleeves. The black, polyester pants are secured with an elastic waistband. The molded, latex chaps cover the thighs and tie around the waist and the back of the legs. Add the brown, rustic belt over the waist by tying it in the back. It is made of latex and has the black Batman emblem in the middle. Black, latex gloves go up to the elbow and have three arched ridges. The black boot covers slip on over your shoes and the costume's pants. Top the costume off with the Batman latex mask. This mask has pointy ears and two slits for your eyes and nostrils. A large slit is made for your mouth and chin. Button the satin, black cape around your neck that is floor length. The cape's bottom resembles the bottom of bat wings and has sturdy dowels inside. Disapointed for the Money

I just received my Grand Heritage Colleciton Batman Dark Knight costume. I have two costume parties to go to this year, and my wife and I were thinking it would be fun to go as Batman and The Joker. While I am very impressed with The Joker costume, I think the Batman costume leaves a lot to be desired, particularly for a $400+ costume.

The good parts...the mask is nice, and it tucks well into the chest armor. So, although I thought it was cut a little too much up the back, even for my head (I wear a 7 5/8 hat), that concern disappears when you tuck it into the chest piece. The gloves are made well and look nice on. And the cape is very nice...well made and has rods inserted into the ends that you can grab onto when you spread your "wings".

The disappointing parts...as with a lot of costumes that come with capes (my Supreme Darth Vader costume also falls into this category) Rubies believes that the costume in the front is the only important part, and they really skimp on the back pieces. At least with my Darth Vader costume, the back of the pieces are connected with mesh belts. The Batman costume is held together with strings that need to be tied...except the chest piece, which is held together with one velcro strap. That seemed kind of silly to me, as the chest piece is the biggest part of the costume...you would think they would use three pieces of velcro...one at the neckline, one in the middle and one at the waist. But they only use one piece in the middle. The utility belt is also made of rubber, which kind of surprised me (I thought it would be plastic, as it is a belt) and needs to be tied together in the rear of the costume.

The most disappointing piece is the codpiece/thigh piece...this, again is tied together with strings in the rear of the costume. The upper codpiece ties around your waist, and then the thigh pieces tie around each individual leg. Unfortumately, the thigh pieces tie off only in one location at the bottom of the thigh, above the knee. Therefore, the thigh pieces do not "mold" to your thighs at all, and actually make it look like you are wearing a piece of flat rubber above your thighs instead of a molded piece around your thigh.

This might be a nicer costume with some modification (maybe a hot glue gun and some additional velcro on the chest piece and the thigh pieces) but I have my first party to go to in 36 hours and did not expect to do any work on this, so I really don't think I can put the effort into it I should...but that I really don't think I should have to do on a $400+ costume.

Great Costume But Needs Work

I bought this same costume off ebay for $400. There are a lot of great things about this costume, but there are also some things that need work. I'll start with the negatives.

The mask is way too big. I don't think anyones head would fit this mask. It is an easy fix though. Amazon has a batman mask on here for $25 and it is great. It fits perfectly and looks just like the one in The Dark Knight Rises.

The Boot Covers are very lousy. They look like Santa Claus boots and they really make the costume look bad. Howver, this is also an easy fix. Just search the internet for Black Superhero boots. I managed to find a pair that only cost $40! They look very similar to Batmans.

The Belt you get with this costume is also very dissapointing. It looks okay on the costume but it can't hold anything and is made very cheaply. Just like the other two, it is an easy fix. Amazon has an awesome Batman belt for $10!

The last negative thing about the costume is the way they designed the front armor. The armor is awesome and is great quality but it has two very small velcro pieces on the back. These velcro straps allow the armor to fit and all you have to do is lift your hands above your head and the velcro detaches. What you have to do is just go to Home Depot, and bu Industrial Strength Velcro. This works very well.

Although there are some negatives, they are all very easy fixes.

Positives

The chest and leg armor are awesome. They look very cool and they aren't made cheaply.

The cape is unbelievable. I really can't say anything else about it. It may just be able to make you fly. (I don't advise trying though.)

They give you a black long sleeve shirt and pants. These under clothes work very well with the costume.

The gloves are a little on the large side but they are awesome.

This costume will be the center attention anywhere. After you take some time to fix it up, it comes out looking exactly like Batman from the Dark Knight Trilogy. I am a huge Dark Knight fan and cannot wait to show this costume off come Halloween. Also when the DVD releases, it will be a great time to show it off.

Overall, I recommend this costume. It does need work and you will have to spend a little bit more money on parts but it is worth it. Unless you want to spend $4,000 on an exact replica, I advise you choose this costume. It looks awesome when all is said and done. It will also keep you very warm come Halloween season. It will be the best costume at any party and everyone will want it. It is a little difficult to move around in it at first, but you get used to it.
